I've recently earned my Sports Psychology Coaching Certification from the Spencer Institute. The Spencer Institute is accredited by The Certification and Accreditation Board of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). The AADP is a professional accrediting association which recognizes traditional and non-traditional programs in the United States and around the world.
What does having a sports psychology coaching certification mean?
First, a little background about myself. I've been an athlete my whole life, enjoying all sports and having played baseball in college (and I'm still playing today) where I was one of two co-captains. I've been a lifelong follower of all sports and even at a young age, knew that my mindset - and the way I went about preparing to play - was vitally important to my success, and the success of my teammates and coaches. I've also coached at the middle school level and high school level, while also conducting private lessons.
So, what does having a sports psychology coaching certification mean? Referred to as a, "Mental Performance Coach", it means a deeper knowledge and understanding of the athlete's mind and it shows I possess the understanding of basic sport psychology principles and their application with athletes, players, and clients.
I am now better equipped to help athletes in their chosen sport(s) be able to do, be, and become the best versions of themselves on the field/court, in the classroom, and in life. At the forefront of every athlete - amateur and professional - is the person themselves, as it is so vitally important to help him/her understand their best way to be successful. Therefore, plans and strategies will be customized, taking into account a number of factors.
With business professionals, a Mental Performance Coach can be invaluable, and a key component to helping business leaders and employees achieve greater success. This certification allows me to better assist professionals in their respective business, nonprofit, and government "worlds", reach new heights.
